BioSometime during the party, I got up to go to the bathroom. And when I returned...
"Amelia, we've decided to call you 'Shamika'. You know, because you're so black."
Yes. Me. This latte-sipping, GAP-wearing, Dave Matthews-listening suburbanite. I use the word "neat" to describe things I think are cool, such as 12 hours of special features on the newly released Back to the Future DVD. I am so black.
Actually, having an alter-ego has its uses. Shamika doesn't take any shit from anyone. Nobody messes with her. And though she can be very intimidating sometimes, she has a playful, sensitive side as well. She is the reason I have such incredible success with men. And she has an uncanny sense of direction.
